The Process Of Family Planning

"Our team will help you feel at ease and informed throughout the entire family-building process"
"Our team will help you feel at ease and informed throughout the entire family-building process"

Consultation

The first step to starting your family planning is to schedule a consultation with the fertility experts at our Omaha clinic. We will review your medical history, goals, and options for your family-building plan.

Choosing Your Option

After you have discussed your medical history and goals with one of our professionals, they will recommend which option they think would work best for you to meet you and your partner's desired outcome.

Choosing Your Surrogate

You and your partner can choose from our curated list of surrogates, work with an outside agency, or choose a family member or friend to be your gestational carrier.

Choosing Your Donor

Similar to the surrogate process, if you are looking for an egg or sperm donor you can choose one of our anonymous donors, or, if you have a family member or friend you would like to be genetically involved, you can ask them to be your donor.

IVF or IUI

After selecting your donor, you can then begin the process of preparing for artificial insemination. If you choose IVF, the eggs will be fertilized in our state-of-the-art laboratory. For lesbian couples who choose IUI, you will work with our doctors to determine the best time for fertilization.

Pregnancy

Our Omaha, NE, team will keep you informed and let you know if the pregnancy was successful. We will be with you every step of the way to answer any questions and offer our support during this exciting time of you growing your family.

Frequently Asked Questions About LGBTQ Family Planning in Omaha, NE

Do both partners need to be legally married to pursue family building?

Marriage is not a requirement for treatment; however, legal agreements may be needed for donor or surrogacy arrangements. We encourage all patients to consult with a family law attorney to ensure proper protections.

Can we use embryos created at another clinic?

Yes. Our laboratory team can receive and store embryos from another accredited fertility clinic. We will coordinate the safe transfer and help you continue your journey here in Omaha. We can also help facilitate embryo creation at our state-of-the-art fertility clinic.

What happens to unused embryos?

You have several options, including cryopreservation for future use, donation to research, or embryo donation. Our team will review these choices with you so you can decide what feels right for your family.

Is fertility preservation an option before starting gender-affirming treatment?

Yes, transgender and nonbinary patients can freeze eggs, sperm, or embryos before beginning hormone therapy or surgery. Preserving your fertility early gives you more family-building options later.

Do you provide counseling or emotional support during treatment?

We recognize that fertility care can be emotionally challenging. While our clinic does not provide therapy directly, we can connect you with mental health professionals experienced in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
