Victoria Maclin, MD, FACOG
Reproductive Endocrinologist
Dr. Maclin is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and medical director of the Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine, PC. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Southern Illinois University. She subsequently completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Maclin was an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Rush Medical College until 1993, when she was recruited to University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Maclin served at UNMC as associate professor and chief of the division of reproductive endocrinology until 2000.
Dr. Maclin has collaborated on several research projects through UNMC and has co-authored many articles for publication. She has also written several textbook chapters and co-edited the textbook Myomectomy. Dr. Maclin has lectured throughout the United States and has served on many professional advisory boards. Until 2000, Dr. Maclin also served as an associate professor and chief of the division of reproductive endocrinology at UNMC.
After her work at the University, Dr. Maclin decided to concentrate her private practice on reproductive medicine, co-founding the Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine, PC with her partner, Dr. Jacques Ramey.
Dr. Maclin's personal activities are centered on her four children. She is also an avid supporter of the arts.
Jacques W. Ramey, MD, PhD
Reproductive Endocrinologist
Dr. Ramey received his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Toledo. He then attended the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, where he earned his Master's degree and a Ph.D. from the department of physiology and biophysics, focusing on reproductive physiology.
After completing these studies, he continued his education at the University of Cincinnati, graduating from medical school in 1985. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, followed by a two-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the Jones Institute of Reproductive Medicine in Virginia.
Dr. Ramey moved to Nebraska in 1995 to join the division of reproductive endocrinology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He served there for five years before going into private practice.
Dr. Ramey has published many papers in peer review journals, focusing on both the basic sciences and clinical medicine with respect to reproductive functioning.
His personal interests include a love for nature and the outdoors. He also shows and breeds paint horses with his wife, who is a practicing general surgeon in Omaha. They have two children.
Mercedes Gondra, MD
General Gynecologist
Dr. Gondra received her medical degree in 1992 from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed a 5 year residency in general surgery. Dr. Gondra then focused her practice in female colorectal issues. During her time in Argentina she enjoyed teaching anatomy and surgical techniques for nursing and medical students.
In 2000 she moved to the United States and pursued a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her residency in June of 2008 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Due to her prior experience in general surgery, female colorectal issues, gynecology and her love for reproductive medicine, Dr. Gondra was invited to join the team at Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine. She is currently an honorary faculty at University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Gondra has collaborated in research involving pancreatic cancer and immunotherapy in Argentina. In the United States her research has focused on endometriosis. Dr. Gondra enjoys traveling, biking, hiking, and kayaking. Her pride and joy is her daughter.
Ann Bode, MSN, APRN-MP
Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Miller-Bode received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Creighton University. She spent a year working with the underserved in Mexico while learning the Spanish language. She then completed her Master's degree in nursing and a post-graduate program in women's health care nurse practitioning from the College of Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Ms. Miller-Bode has published several articles in both nursing and medical journals and authored patient education materials on pregnancy-induced hypertension and prepared childbirth.
She is now the women's health care nurse practitioner at the Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine, PC, providing general gynecological care with a special emphasis on care for infertile couples, perimenopausal / menopausal care, care for women with PCOS, and osteoporosis prevention.
Ms. Bode and her husband, Richard, have two daughters.
Tammie Kay Schalue, PhD, HCLD, ELD
Director of Laboratories
Dr. Schalue completed her undergraduate and Master of Science degrees in animal science with an emphasis in reproductive physiology at the University of Missouri. She earned her doctorate in reproductive physiology/molecular biology at the University of Florida, where she also completed her post-doctoral training in obstetrics and gynecology.
In 1996, Dr. Schalue developed and directed the preimplantation genetic diagnosis program at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was also an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita.
In 1998, Dr. Schalue became director of the center for reproductive medicine laboratories and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Two years later, she assumed the role of director of laboratories at the Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine, PC. She is certified as a High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Embrology Laboratory Director (ELD) by the American Board of Bioanalysis.
Dr. Schalue has published numerous peer review journal articles and abstracts and is a member of the National Honor Society Sigma Xi. In her free time, she is a skilled scuba diver who is certified as a Master Diver Instructor by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
Barbara K. Timm, MA, ELD(ABB) TS(ABB)
Associate Director of Laboratories
Ms. Timm completed her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Art degrees at the University of South Dakota, both with an emphasis in the area of Biology.
Upon graduation in 1991, Ms. Timm started her career as a Cytogenetics Technologist with the University of South Dakota Genetics Laboratory. She was involved in culturing different kinds of tissue and analysis for chromosomal defects. She was in charge of developing and implementing the laboratory's fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) program using chromosome specific probes.
In 1994, Ms. Timm was instrumental in setting up and supervising the Andrology and Embryology sections at the University of South Dakota Human Reproduction Laboratory. In 2001, she joined the Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine, PC team of laboratory technologists. She was appointed the Technical Supervisor for the Andrology and Embryology divisions and the Supervisor for the laboratories in 2002. In 2003, Ms. Timm was appointed the Embryology Laboratory Director and Associate Director of Laboratories at the Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine, PC.
Ms. Timm is board certified as an Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD) and Technical Supervisor (TS) in Embryology and Andrology by the American Board of Bioanalysis. She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Reproductive Biology Professional Group and the Reproductive Laboratory Technology Professional Group. She is also a member of the American Association of Bioanalysts and the College of Reproductive Biology.
Ms. Timm has published several peer review journal articles and abstracts with respect to assisted reproductive technologies. She is a member of the National Honor Society Sigma Xi and Phi Sigma. She is also a member of the South Dakota Air National Guard. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Alan, and their four children.
